Adopting

PAWS specializes in helping you find a perfect “MATCH.” We take time to get to know what you are looking for, your preferences, your lifestyle, and your household so that we may guide you in choosing your new pet. Before you get started, be sure you can answer “yes” to these questions.

  • Are you at least 21 years old?
  • Do you have a valid photo ID? (Please bring that with you)
  • Do you live in a place where pets are welcome? (If you rent, please ask   your landlord what is the pet policy)
  • Are you willing and able to care for an animal for his or her lifetime, investing time and money in things like feeding, grooming, training, and exercising your pet; purchasing supplies, and providing regular veterinary care?

If the answer is yes then please follow our 4 step process

Step 1: Complete the Pre-Adoption application. This form helps adoption counselors gather important information in finding your perfect match.

You might be asking, "What is the matching process? Let us explain.

The pet matching process involves finding the perfect pet for a potential owner based on their lifestyle, preferences, and needs. The process typically starts with filling out an application or questionnaire that asks about the individual's living situation, experience with pets, and other relevant information. Based on this information, the organization will suggest potential matches that align with the individual's criteria, such as size, breed, energy level, and temperament. This then allows potential adopting families to have the opportunity to meet and interact with the recommended pets to see if there is a connection. Ultimately, the goal of the pet matching process is to ensure that both the pet and the owner are a good fit for each other, leading to a successful and long-lasting relationship.

Step 2: Meet the Family - All members of the family or people living in the home will need to visit and be introduced to the new pet. It is also required that all current dogs in the home have a meet and greet with the adoptable pet. Adoptions can happen both on a walk in basis and by scheduled appointment.

Step 3: Once those things have been completed you would then sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee for your new pet and then take them home with you.

Step 4: After a week of your new pet living with you an adoption specialist will reach out to you and see how things are going for you and your pet.  If things are not going well for you or you have had a change of heart you will have the opportunity to return the pet to us and we will refund you half of your adoption fee. The pet can be returned in the first 30 days and you will receive half of your adoption fee back.  After the 30 days you can still return the pet back to us whether it has been 3 months or 3 years we will always take a pet back adopted from Paws that someone may not be able to care for any longer.

(PAWS reserves the right to deny adoptions)

All of PAWS animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They receive all vaccinations that are age appropriate to them. The cats are tested for Feline Leukemia. Any dog or cat over 3 months of age receives a Rabies vaccine.
